Steve Henslee has been leading our Safety Department since 2017. Steve has brought his many years of experience and knowledge in safety, both in the public and private sector, to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our RL Environmental team and our clients. Steve started his career working for the Kern County District Attorney’s office as an investigative aide in the Special Investigations Unit. He earned his associate degree in journalism and his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration. Today Steve is a certified trainer for PEC, Smith Driving Systems, and the American Red Cross. He also currently holds an executive board member position on the American Society of Safety Professionals, Bakersfield Chapter, as well as being a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Central California Chapter Safety Committee.
Steve’s active community service and dedication to his team members keeps him on top of the ever-changing safety environment, always aware of new and upcoming regulations and recommendations from the many agencies he coordinates with, as well as dedicating his time to the safety and well-being of our team and the community in which he lives. Steve is a wealth of knowledge and information for our staff, providing leadership, training, resources and policy development within our organization.
Steve is a long-term resident of Bakersfield. He and his wife Kim have two teens who keep them busy with Horses and Soccer. Steve enjoys announcing horse shows, and attending Riverlakes Community Church, where he volunteers in the Marriage ministry and the Youth Ministry.
Michael Umbro joined the RL Environmental team in 2016, bringing 15 years of experience in oil and gas finance and corporate development sector to our management team. Mike works with our clients on strategic initiatives, business development and process optimization. He has a passion for implementing best practices that advance our clients’ operational, environmental and social objectives.
Mike completed undergraduate studies at Pepperdine University. He holds a Master of Energy Business from The University of Tulsa and is currently pursuing a Master of Environmental Management at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. Early in his career, Mike focused on upstream oil and gas management teams. He maintains status as a registered investment banking professional as well.
When not working, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. They enjoy time at the beach, camping and hiking. He is also an avid surfer and golfer, having been born and raised in southern California.
Anthony Hernandez came to RL Environmental in 2019. As one of our leaders of the RL Environmental’s business and strategic development team, Anthony is responsible for promoting and developing a vast array of solutions to RLE’s invaluable clients.
Anthony has over 15 years of sales and leadership experience, with over 10 years specifically in the oil & gas sector. Having begun his career working as a rig hand on an oil rig, Anthony understands the value of hard work and the true meaning of teamwork. Anthony is a true servant leader and is always willing to jump in the trenches when needed. With the help of many tremendous team members and partners over the years, Anthony has had the pleasure of leading over 250 employees and developed countless client relationships.
Anthony is married with three sons and a daughter. He and his family are very active in the community. When not busy helping within the community, Anthony can be found supporting his children in their many scholastic and athletic ventures.
Robert Cunningham has been a part of the oilfield industry for nearly 10 years. Robert started with RL Environmental as an operator in 2011. Through hard work and determination, Robert worked up the ladder and today is an Area Manager for RL Environmental, Inc. In this current role, Robert is responsible for overseeing personnel and operations, as well as client relations at multiple locations for RLE. He brings compassion and a great work ethic each and every day, guiding his crews and always giving his best for his clients and team members.
Robert comes from 28 years of customer service–related experience. Robert has had many opportunities to grow his skills in customer service and management, including time as an entrepreneur himself, owning his own company for nearly 10 years. Robert’s ability to develop relationships of trust and respect show his compassion for others and represents the kind of outstanding leadership we have here at RL Environmental. Through experience and growth, Robert has honed his skills and, along with his vast knowledge over his years with RL Environmental, Robert successfully builds and manages his team to their fullest potential.
Outside of working for RLE, Robert is a husband and father of two children. He loves adventures and spending time with his family.
Paul Slocum entered the oil and gas industries in 1993 as a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico. During his time as a Commercial diver he worked on large offshore projects, platform installation, and salvage.
Paul holds an A.S. degree in Marine Technology from the College of Oceaneering and an A.S. degree in Respiratory Therapy from San Joaquin Valley College. He also has extensive leadership training from his experience in the military where he served as an Aviation Logistics NCO and a Rifleman during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Paul began his military leadership training with NJROTC at Pasadena High School, rising to the rank of Commander, leading over 100 Cadets. Once graduated, Paul enlisted and served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps before he began his civilian career. After the events of September 11, 2001, Paul once again joined the military to serve his country in the Army National Guard as a Combat Medic until 2006.
Paul joined the RL Environmental, Inc. team in 2012. In his role as an Area Manager, Paul brings a wealth of knowledge in leading men and women to exceptional heights and managing multiple projects, all with ease. During his distinguished career Paul has led many teams and worked in various fields. His experience over the past 30 years, in and out of the oilfields, is instrumental in building our hardworking and experienced RL Environmental crews.
Ryan is an experienced leader who runs RL Environmental with military precision. He sets out a clear vision and motivates his team to deliver world-class performance. His goal is to over-deliver on every project his company takes on and prides himself on strong performance, delivered flawlessly.
During his nine years in the military, Mr. Lowe led 200 troops and was responsible for $23M in military revenue. It was during his military chapter that he made the decision to continue his education, so he pursued his Bachelor’s in Business Administration while he served his country.
In leading his own company, Mr. Lowe focuses employment opportunities to returning veterans where he believes military experience affords RL Environmental a strong employee base and provides returning vets with the opportunity to apply their skills. This focus creates a diverse workforce and lifts up deserving servicemen.
Ryan expects no less from himself than he does from his employees. He holds an 8th degree Master Instructor Blackbelt in Ninjutsu. His black belt was received directly from his world-renowned Sensei in Noda City, Japan. Martial arts have played a huge role in his life and stands as the definition of his strength and discipline. He teaches and trains weekly with dozens of students ranging in age from 15 to 50.
Mr. Lowe leverages this discipline in many areas of his life, including his training as a licensed helicopter pilot. Flying helicopters challenges him, keeping him sharp and focused.
Ryan is extremely active in the Bakersfield community. Through his company, he provides sponsorship for little league, soccer, gymnastics and Relay 4 Life teams. He sponsors the CHP Tips for CHPs event annually along with the California Gang Task Force. He has been awarded the Corporate Leader of the Year award for the past 2 years for his visible support of deserving organizations throughout Kern County.
Leadership and philanthropy is a core value for Mr. Lowe and his years of community support speaks to that value.
Erin Lowe has spent 20 years managing the financial concerns of small to mid-sized businesses. As the co-owner of RL Environmental, she manages all financial aspects of the company.
After receiving her degree from the University of California – Santa Barbara in Biology, Mrs. Lowe began her career with Nestle USA developing and handling testing protocols for ice cream manufacturing. From Nestle, she accepted a position with a testing laboratory where she ran a crew of lab professionals.
Erin and Ryan Lowe started RL Environmental in 2005 based on his technical expertise and her strong financial discipline and have grown it to a multimillion-dollar company.
Today, Mrs. Lowe serves as the Executive Vice President of RL Environmental. In this position, she is responsible for all accounting, insurance and financial processes and provides leadership and direction for the Human Resources team.
Randy Jackson has spent the last 40 years designing, building and managing world-class dewatering systems. He began his career with Global Environmental where he managed operations from Southern California to Alaska. He developed the skills to ensure that waste water continued to flow even through tough Alaskan winters. After Global was purchased by Laidlaw, he became the regional Operations Manager where he oversaw more than 100 field operators and constructed Centrifuge system, Thermal drying systems, Pipe Line cleaning systems and various other systems that supported the Water Treatment, Geothermal and Oilfield Operations.
During a portion of his decades of waste water treatment practice, Mr. Jackson has owned and operated his own company. During other periods, he has provided leadership in top-class environmental organizations.
Today, Randy is the Superintendent of RL Environmental. In this role, he designs, constructs and maintains all operational facilities. Randy provides chemical and mechanical expertise to ensure seamless operations. During his tenure with RL Environmental, he has mentored hundreds of young operators on the safe and efficient operation of centrifuge, filter press and sand screw equipment.
Mr. Jackson is known throughout the industry as a leader in the waste water management discipline. His design expertise is responsible for many of the industry’s advancements, improving the environmental profiles of industries that are notoriously highly pollutive.
When not working, Randy is a family man, with a wife, children and grandchildren that he boasts about incessantly. Having spent decades in an industry that knows no days-off, he relishes the time he can spend with his wonderful family.
Tony Moody has been RL Environmental’s Controller since 2013, overseeing all accounting and financing functions.
As a high school student working for his family business, he had the opportunity to observe and interact with the Certified Public Accountant, coming to understand and admire the important role that accountants play in a business. Mr. Moody realized that, if done properly, good financial discipline drives business success. This discipline and drive is a core value for Tony and is reflected in both his business and personal life.
Mr. Moody holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Accounting degree from Cal State University Bakersfield. He is a selected member of Beta Gamma Sigma honor society for collegiate schools of business and holds the State of California Board of Accountancy certification to practice as a Certified Public Accountant.
When not at work, Tony enjoys spending time with his family, following his youngest son’s baseball career and weight lifting with his friends.
Leo Henderson has spent more than a decade in the oil and gas industry. Throughout those years, he has managed oilfield construction, maintenance and tank cleaning projects. His work ethic and leadership skills have made him the go-to professional for managing complex oilfield services projects.
Mr. Henderson inherently understands the crucial need for clear communication and safe practices during project operations. He prides himself on being approachable for his people and providing clear and concise communications to his superiors. Safety has always been at the forefront of Leo’s focus because he recognizes that safe operations is the only way to ensure that everyone goes home to their families every day.
Today, in his role with RL Environmental, he is responsible for overseeing all field projects acting as a liaison between the company and its business partners. He has a full contingent of project managers that lead field operations throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
When not leading field operations, Leo is an avid camper and can be found with his family enjoying the outdoors.
Stacy Youngblood is RL Environmental’s Maintenance Manager and has been with the company since 2009. In this role, Mr. Youngblood is responsible for the customization, fabrication and maintenance of all equipment. Stacy has been welding since his time at Arvin High School. He began his welding career with a local fabrication company and has been using his excellent skills ever since, designing and fabricating some of the most complex pieces of equipment for many Kern County companies.
In his role as Maintenance Manager, Mr. Youngblood is not only responsible for the safe operations of all RL Environmental equipment, including centrifuges, sand screws, pumps, tanks and vehicles. But, RL Environmental also customizes all new pieces of equipment to ensure best in class performance. These customizations are a result of the more than two decades of welding and fabrication experience that Stacy brings to this industry. With his knowledge and customized improvements, no one will get the results that RL Environmental produces daily for its clients.
When he’s not working on equipment, Stacy enjoys the views from the cockpit of a helicopter, having received his pilot’s license in 2015. If not flying, he can be found spending time with his wonderful wife, two children, and a handsome young grandson.
